DOCKWATCH

DockWatch is a notification device for truckers that connects to their phone over BLE and notifies them when their dock light turns green.

I did the full electronic design and embedded software for this project, from prototype to finished product!

DockWatch was one of my first products I worked on at mHUB, so I got to see it go through several revisions over its development lifecycle.

Here’s one of the early prototypes, with an enclosure and clip designed by Luke Gray!

One interesting challenge I had to overcome on this project was simulating the real life testing conditions the sensor had to work in.

The best solution was to build a testing rig with a real dock light, so I ended up spending a lot of cold January mornings outside mHUB in the parking lot trying to simulate the worst possible lighting conditions.
